Your documents talk more than you think
Upload a PDF, DOCX, PPTX or photo. Within 2 seconds see exactly which author names, GPS coordinates, tracked changes and hidden metadata are still in the file — before you forward it by mistake.
What do we find?
Authors & company
Real writer name, last-edited-by, Office company licence, previous owner. Often still there in docx core-properties.
GPS coordinates
Photos from smartphones carry GPS. Home address leaks to clients, candidates or social media.
Tracked changes
Accepted but not cleaned up? Hidden comments and deletions are still there — legal risk.
Tooling fingerprint
Word version, scanner model, software serial. Useful for phishing investigators and competitors alike.
How serious are the leaks?
🔴 HIGH
GPS, full name, legal tracked changes, trade secrets in comments.
🟠 MEDIUM
Author name, original filename, creation date, Office licence number.
🟢 LOW
Tool version, page count, encoding — informative but harmless.
How does it work?
1. Upload
Drop your file in the dropzone. Stays in RAM, deleted right after scan.
2. Scan
We read EXIF, PDF-XMP, DOCX core.xml and flag risks per category.
3. Report
You get a color-coded list: what leaks, how bad, what to do.

FAQ
Do you store my file?
No. Files processed in RAM and deleted after scan. We only log an anonymous counter (IP-hash + daily quota).
Is this GDPR-compliant?
Yes. Server in NL (Hetzner), no third-party scan APIs, no tracking. Suitable for legal and medical documents.
Why is metadata dangerous?
A CV with GPS leaks your home address. A legal DOCX with tracked changes leaks internal debate. A photo on your website with EXIF leaks your home address if you took it there. Metadata leaks more than you think.
What's different from AVGCheck.nl?
AVGCheck scans your website (cookies/trackers). MetaScan scans your files (hidden metadata). Use both for complete GDPR coverage.
