Statement
„[paraphrase, not a verbatim quote] The president told the judges elected by the Sejm that they are not judges of the Constitutional Tribunal.”
Claim checked: The President told the Sejm-elected Tribunal judges that they are not Tribunal judges.
Verdict: True
What we found
The content of the remark is confirmed by independent sources. Notes from Poland describes a further video in which the president, after entering the building, in a verbal confrontation with judge Korwin-Piotrowska and others, tells them they are not Constitutional Tribunal judges. The judge herself told TVN24: "He said we have no right to be here and that we are not judges of the Constitutional Tribunal". This matches the president's earlier position: he refused to swear in five of the eight judges the Sejm elected this year, including Korwin-Piotrowska. Caveat: we confirm the substance and circumstances, but the exact Polish wording of the sentence in quotation marks still has to be checked against a transcript of the recording.
Method note
We verify that the sentence was said, not its legal substance: the status of the judges elected in 2026 remains disputed. Publication is possible only once the literal wording is confirmed.
