Statement
„being pressured by the President's staff”
Claim checked: The ambassadors' resignations were caused by pressure from the President's circle.
Verdict: Unverifiable
What we found
The resignations themselves are confirmed. The ambassador to Romania, Soloch, wrote (rp.pl, 05:53 entry): "I do not see any possibility of continuing to serve as Poland's Ambassador to Romania". According to rp.pl (17:33 entry), Kumoch and others also announced resignations in connection with the crisis around the Tribunal. None of the sources we checked, however, offers evidence or an account from the diplomats themselves that they were "pressured". Soloch's statement does not mention pressure. The claim can therefore be neither confirmed nor ruled out on publicly available material. Sikorski called the situation "unfortunate" and the conduct "unprofessional".
Method note
Public evidence is missing either way, so we propose "Unverifiable". We will revisit the rating if the diplomats themselves describe the circumstances of their decisions.
