Claim checked: The image showing the president grabbing a Constitutional Tribunal judge is AI-generated and is not a real photograph.

What we found

The image of President Karol Nawrocki grabbing judge Anna Korwin-Piotrowska circulated on social media on 31 October, including among politicians. According to Polskie Radio 24, activist Bart Staszewski generated it with AI and wrote that he made it "based on frames from the video". The fact-checking portal Demagog also flagged it as AI-made (as reported by Polskie Radio 24); Wirtualna Polska and wPolityce.pl describe it the same way. This rating covers only where the image comes from: that the picture is artificial does not settle what actually happened at the Tribunal door. Footage from the scene shows a scuffle and is described by Notes from Poland. We did not check the author's extra argument about the president's watch.

Method note

The author of the post is a photographer of the President's Chancellery, i.e. a party to the dispute. We therefore based the rating on independent sources, not on the post itself. The check concerns the origin of the image, not the event itself.
